Best Fresh Seafood and Oysters
Hands down, one of my favorite establishments of all time. If you’re a seafood lover and appreciate fresh seafood, nice portions, and reasonably priced dishes, then this place will be among your favorites, if it’s not already.
Came across this restaurant as I was doing a google search for best oysters and best happy hour oysters for our first official date night. We’re sure glad we decided on this restaurant to kick off our date night experiences. Although it doesn’t have a happy hour, everything including the oysters were mouth watering and fresh. We were drawn to the place with because of its solid seafood menu selection. Believe me, we ordered a wide selection of dishes to sample and we were not disappointed. All of the dishes we had were fresh and excellently prepared. The sashimi combo platter we ordered with ahi and salmon was a melt in your mouth epicurean delight and my favorite dish of the evening. Sorry, if I seem to be gushing, but I am.
You order from the counter, are given a number, and your food is brought to your table. There was a steady line the entire time we were there, and it was a Monday evening. (Normally not a busy night for restaurants in general.) They also had a nice selection of local beers on tap and a small selection of wines.
The menu items we selected were the following:
1)New England Clam Chowder, 2) A dozen oysters, 3)A combo sushi platter with Ahi and Salmon, 4)A Lobster Taco, and 5) The Seared Scallop plate.
Of course we needed to start with the oysters and an order of the New England Clam Chowder. They oysters were Sanctuary oysters from Baja, Ca. They were fresh, firm, and crunchy with a nice brininess to them. The clam chowder had a pleasant buttery, garlic taste with nice sized pieces of clams and potatoes. At first we had considered ordering the lobster bisque soup and opted for the chowder so we could make comparisons to other chowders we’ve had, and because we already had the lobster covered with the taco. I’d rank the chowder among one of the best chowders that we’ve had. The lobster taco was also to die for with a good sized piece of breaded lobster deep fried and accompanied with a cabbage and tomato slaw, topped with a basil crema sauce. Everything we’ve tasted thus far was excellent and superior to other like dishes we’ve had. However, I must say for myself that the Combo sashimi platter with salmon and ahi, and the Seared Scallop entree were the highlights of my meal. The sashimi color, texture, taste, and freshness could not be beat and literally melted in your mouth. The scallops were lightly seared on the grill and served over rice with a bourbon butter sauce along with a green salad, heavenly.
